People In A Position To Know Limited Edition Vinyl and Handmade Musical Artifacts is a micro-indie label based in Olympia, WA, who has released almost 100 records since 1995. The majority of PIAPTK's releases are handmade in some, if not all, aspects. While they use pressing plants for most larger run records, they cut many of their own short-run records on 1940's Presto 6N record lathes. They have made records out of plexiglass, laserdiscs, picnic plates, cd-rs, mirrors, placemats, x-rays, and even 90% cacao chocolate. They silkscreen or letter-press much of the artwork for these unique releases on repurposed paper and other materials.
Our mission is to eventually reach a pinnacle of ridiculousness with the releases that we will feel cannot be surpassed, at which point, Mike, the owner, will take up either Golf or Backgammon and leave the music industry all together.
